FAQs

What is therapy?

Psychotherapy and counselling not only help manage the psychological difficulties, trauma or crises you are experiencing, but also help you develop and grow as a person.

It is a confidential, empathetic space to explore who you are and to reconnect with the lost, neglected parts of you. To explore your inner world, express and understand your unconscious motivations and help you become a more authentic version of yourself.

It is often difficult to face and accept all the broken, unloved, unexplored fragments of ourselves alone and with honesty. It is through this process that you will have the safety & freedom to try.

how much do you charge?

Each session is 50 mins long and I charge INR 3000/session. I also have a “no minimum” sliding scale option based on needs and availability.

How MAny sessions does it take for one to be okay?

It depends. Since therapy does not have a script, and the kind of work I do is based on building and creating the relationship between us, the number of sessions varies from person to person. However, it is good to start with keeping a 5 session buffer as a starter. Yet, fewer than 15 sessions is unlikely to bring any lasting change. It is important that you are able to invest significant time in your therapeutic process.

Are you going to diagnose me?

I practice non-diagnostic methods of therapy. While labels can be empowering for some people, I also find them incredibly limiting. I like to work with what one brings to the room: the emotions, desires, past, fears, the self. Therapy is a lot more than “finding” a condition you are “suffering” with. A better person to work with would be a clinical psychologist if diagnosis is where you would prefer to start. :)

Do I need medication?

There is no singular answer to this. However, this is something that will never be forced upon you. If during the course of our work it feels like medication is necessary, we will talk about it and find a suitable psychiatrist.

What about confidentiality?

The consent form signed before the sessions begin, ensure client-therapist confidentiality. The confidentiality may be broken if you are at immediate risk to yourself, to another, or if the court mandates I hand over my notes. All three will be done only with your knowledge, and breaking confidentiality is an extremely rare occurrence.
